If a picture is worth a thousand words, a movie is worth a thousand pictures. We are invited to take a front row seat and join Dr. Zitter and her team in Extremis, an Academy Award-nominated short verite documentary by filmmaker Dan Krauss. We are taken into the very heart of the ICU, the front line of the public crisis that touches all of us: people dying badly and facing ethical dilemmas. We watch as patients and families grapple with the complexities of urgent medical decision-making in serious illness. We will witness both the beauty of saving a life and the beauty of a good death. Immediately following the film, Dr. Zitter will lead discussion on topics raised in the film, selected with an aim to improving health care teams’ efficacy in caring for seriously ill patients and their families.
If you can, join us at the 15th Annual Northern California Case Management Conference in Napa this May. This conference qualifies for CME units. Please visit the ACMA website for information on registration and for a brochure of the conference’s full listings.
